Paying without a plan
Can I see an allergist without insurance?
Yes. Allergenix is a direct specialty practice, which means you pay the clinic for the visit rather than the clinic billing an insurer. No plan, no referral and no prior authorization is needed to book.
What does a first appointment cost?
Most first appointments are a bundled evaluation: $450 for environmental allergy, $425 for food allergy, $450 for asthma. Each is one price covering the consultation, the testing indicated for it and a written plan. For anything outside those, a new patient consultation is $225.
Will I get a surprise bill afterwards?
No. Charges are not processed through insurance, so there is no claim, no explanation-of-benefits and no balance billing after the fact. Payment is taken or arranged on the day of your visit.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
Cash, Credit Card, HSA, FSA and Care Credit are accepted. Whether a particular expense qualifies under your own plan is a question for your plan administrator.
Do I still need insurance for anything?
Possibly. Outside services — laboratory work, imaging and prescriptions — are billed by whoever provides them, and your own coverage may apply there. Allergenix partners with selected local laboratories and imaging centers to provide direct-pay rates that are often significantly reduced.
Is there a membership, and do I have to join?
Membership is optional. The Allergenix Membership Program is $99/month and covers unlimited follow-up appointments; it suits people who expect to be seen more than once or twice a year. There is no required contract and you can cancel at any time.
THE SHORT VERSION
The price is published, it applies to everyone, and nothing about your care depends on which plan you carry — including not carrying one.
